International Book Fair

An annual event much awaited by publishing houses and booksellers is the Malta Book Fair which is organised during mid-November by the National Book Council. The exhibitors include some well-established local and foreign publishers and booksellers. The fair offers a large variety of both local and foreign publications and the visiting public has the opportunity to browse and purchase books according to one's taste and interests. Several activities are usually organised during Book Fair, including literary evenings, launching of new publications and story-telling sessions for children. A book exhibition featuring a literary theme is also mounted and draws a large number of visitors, especially school children. It is worth noting that the sub-committee set up by the council for the organization of the fair operates from the National Library, issuing applications for participation and providing other related information related to the Fair.
